Installer recommends radiators he has in his own home

Sean Brown of Sean Brown Plumbing and Heating in Kirkcaldy has been in the heating business for more than 30 years and by his own admission tends to be a creature of habit: “I know what works for me and what works for my clients.”

So it comes as no surprise that in a recent heating system installation for a repeat customer in Glenrothes he recommended the same high-quality radiators that he has installed in his own home. He turned to Stelrad Radiators for their stylish Vita Deco designer radiators with a classic flat fronted design with horizontal lines adding a touch of class to the décor in the property.

A satisfied customer returned to Sean when he moved home and needed help with his heating system. The existing boiler needed replacing so he asked for advice from Sean as to the best replacement he could offer. Sean suggested that it would be worth looking at an air source heat pump to provide heating and hot water, helped by funding available through Home Energy Scotland. It made sense to replace the existing heating system with a renewable one that saw the existing microbore pipework replaced, the installation of a new Vailliant aroTHERM plus air source heat pump, a 200 litre Vaillant unvented hot water cylinder, integrating Vaillant weather compensation controls and relying on the Stelrad Vita Deco radiators to share the heat around the home.

It was a fantastic project that showcases how sustainable heating solutions can bring comfort, efficiency and long-term value to a home.

Asked why Stelrad radiators were included in the system he installed, Sean says: “Stelrad has always been my preferred brand when it comes to radiators. The client was looking for something a little bit different so having fitted Vita Decos in my own home which also has a Vaillant heat pump fitted, I suggested these to them as well. They were an important part of embracing renewable technology in the new home, helping to reduce the carbon footprint while future proofing the home for them at the same time.”

Nicole Pollock is Stelrad’s Brand Specialist Manager for Scotland and the UK: “We are delighted Sean has so much faith in the Stelrad brand and chooses to install Stelrad radiators when he can in his day-to-day work. This particular installation proves what we have been saying for a while now, that Stelrad radiators contribute significantly in renewable heating system installations. Correctly sized, radiators will provide the levels of comfort heating just as effectively with heat pump driven systems as they do with traditional boiler driven ones. Radiators are still by far and away the most popular method of sharing heat in UK homes and are an important part of the solution for future proofing heating systems for the years ahead.
